To Tame a Land
The Nerath Empire once spanned large parts of the known world. Started in the large human cities along the Palendar Bay the Empire quickly spread and gained in both size and power. At its hight, the Empire stretched as far north as the Nentir Vale, east as far as Tanriel, west to Gandiar and south to outposts on the southern edge of the Palendar Bay. Two hundred years ago however, the empire fell into decline. The large empire had expanded too fast for its own good and many areas were not fully tamed. Dozens of seperate minor evens such as rebellions, invasions and political infighting amongst members destroyed any authority the empire claimed. As a result, one hundred years ago the city states that had formed it went their sperate ways and the Empire ceased to be. Many territories of the Empire were left without any authority and events like the Bloodspear Wars crippled the Empire’s former holdings that were left without protection. The main legacy of the Nerath empire however was the melding of most of the races in the world. Some races such as the half-orc and hobgoblin societies refused to join and others like the shifters were too disorganized to be assmilated. However, the major races under the empire benifited greatly as a result of their forced co-existance under the Empire.
